English School (19th Century) Oil on Canvas of Jonas Webb (1796-1862) in a Giltwood Frame Circa 1840. Webb was a cattle and sheep breeder, well known for developing the 'Southdown' breed of sheep. He also was known for a particular breed of short horn cattle. The life size oil depicts Webb with Staffordshire figures of his prized bull and his Southdown sheep to his left and with his hand on what is most likely the deed to his farm.
