This antique French Faience (tin glazed earthenware)  platter has a central hand painted hunting scene. There is an irregular border surrounding the scene that has insets of raised hand painted sections having motifs from mythology set against a pale ground.   The rim of the platter has a raffle leaf border, typical of the Rococo style.  There are small pierced holes interspersed throughout the border.

These hand painted platters were used for display purposes on the wall or in a display cabinet.
