On January 8, 1993, the United States Postal Service issued a first-class stamp honoring Elvis Presley, King of Rock n' Roll, on his birthday. The first-day issue of these very popular stamps was simultaneously held in Memphis, Tennessee, and Elvis's birthplace Tupelo, Mississippi. These stamps are displayed on a 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" standard size envelope which is color coordinated with the stamps. Each envelope features a stamp from Memphis with the entrance gates to Graceland and states "First Day of Issue January 8, 1993 - Memphis, TN 38101" and a stamp from Tupelo featuring a guitar and a musical staff stating "January 8, 1993 Birthplace Station Tupelo, MS 38801."
