Elizabeth Arden used the name Maine Chance Farm for her thouroughbred horse racing and breeding operation in Lexington Kentucky. In 1931 she purchased her first horse. This sterling silver trophy from the Estate Silver Co. collection of decorative, rare & usable silver was given by Mrs John E Cowdin as a perpetual trophy and this particular winner was by War Date in the Beldame Handicap September 15th 1945. Made by Peter Guille, New York with applied strapwork to lower body & on lid. Trophy stands at 7 1/2" tall, and as with all Peter Guille silver, it is of the highest quality and standard
