Dapper, dashing and distinguished men of fashion began to attract attention in the halcyon days of the Edwardian Era, led by that royal rascal and arbiter of taste, King Edward V11. American style leaders were seen endlessly promenading in regal style in clothing provided by the firm of Hart, Schaffner & Mark. Hiring a group of taleted illustrators and including the young brother artists J.C. and F.X. Leyendcker made their product leap to life for a generation of stylish gents. Wonderful image done in soft black and white, presents a sophsiticated couple emerging from a theatrical matinee, he sports a top hat and double-breasted four-button chesterfield, while she floats effortlessly forward in a sparkling white high-collar gown, paired with a plumed hat and fluffy feather boa.
