Parasol, circa 1901-1910, cream fabric (probably once white), white shaft and vegetable ivory knob at top. Brass ferrule and fittings to top. Measures 91 cm long (35.3/4 inches). The lovely top is carved with little circles. (Vegetable ivory is made from nut kernels or nuts, such as the coquilla nut, corozo nut or tagua nut). It hardens to a deep cream colour. The fabric of the parasol has no tears, but is stained with age where is has been folded up, and has a few other stains as well. Still has its little tab to keep it closed. Very elegant parasol of its time.
