Edward Percy Moran (American 1862-1935). Signed (on verso, upper right) E. P. M.. Woman with Basket of Flowers on Path, circa 1890. Oil on Russells Canvas board. 18" x 14". Framed in a 3" bronze ornamented frame added circa 1950. Edward Percy Moran was born in Philadelphia. He established his reputation with genre scenes of children and rural life in colonial America. Many of Morans works were reproduced in photogravures, mezzotint and colored etchings, and published in books and magazines. He is the son of marine artist Edward Moran and nephew of Thomas Moran. He studied under his father and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the National Academy of Design in New York. He also traveled to London and Paris, studying there at the Academie Julian in 1884. The painting bears a stamp, on the verso, from: Russells Canvas Board Patd. Mar. 18, 1879.
