Oil painting on paper laid down on board, by Louis Dupre [French, 1789-1837], "The Theseum, Athens". The painting itself is unsigned but has exhibition labels on the back along with Sotheby's sales labels from 1994 giving authenticity to Louis Dupre (1789-1837) and titled "The Theseum, Athens". The labels state that this was exhibited at the Fine Arts Society, London, "Cornhill To Gran Cairo", 10th June - 28th July, 1991. Also, there is a label showing that this work is illustrated in "Voyage a Athenes et a Constantinople, Ou Collection de Portaits, de Vues et de Costumes Grecs et Ottomans", published Paris 1825, Plate XXIV, "Le Temple de Thesee", by Louis Dupre. This work is obviously the orignal work by Dupre that is shown in the above named publication as Plate XXIV. Dimensions: 20 1/4" x 14 3/4" framed.
