This beautiful purple slag glass vase was made by Challinor, Taylor & Co of Tarentum, PA circa 1880’s. It is shown in the book Milk Glass by E. M. Belknap on page 324, Illus. 295b. This vase stands about 8-3/4 inches tall. The rim of the vase is 5-5/8 inches long by 5 inches wide. The cupped foot is 4-1/8 inches in diameter. The vase has a beautiful purple and white coloration. When these slag colors were first manufactured they were called Mosaic Glass. Sometimes, when found, the star has a red glass insert. I assume that is where the Jewel name comes from. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes or cracks. Shipping includes insurance. (BTMSHF-XX24)
