This is a beautiful flint glass water pitcher in the Loop pattern. The color is amethyst, and I was told it may have been altered in color by ultraviolet light. But I am unsure of that fact. The pattern was produced by many firms of the period including; Central Glass Co.; Challinor, Taylor & Co. Doyle & Co; McKee Glass Co.; O’Hara Glass Co; Boston & Sandwich; and many more. The pattern is also known as Seneca Loop and as Portland Petal. This pitcher is 8 inches tall at the spout and 5-1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point of the bulbous body. The foot ring is 3-7/8 inches in diameter. The handle is perfect with no heat checks or cracks. The pitcher is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes or cracks. The glass is flint and does fluoresce under black light in a dark room. It will not ping like a bowl because of the handle and the closed rim. PLEASE NOTE; The very last picture was taken in natural overcast sunlight against a white background, just to show the actual color. Shipping includes insurance. (DRT-D-XX48-G/E)
