This is a beautiful flint glass open sugar bowl in the Grape and Festoon pattern first made by The Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. of Sandwich, MA circa 1880's. It was also made by Doyle & Co. of Pittsburgh, PA and The United States Glass Corp. in the 1890's. The pattern is also known as Doyle No. 25 and as Wreath. The pattern comes in four distinct forms. 1; clear leaf 2; stippled grape 3; stippled leaf and 4; veined leaf. This sugar has a stippled veined leaf and the leaves of the festoon are also stippled. At the bottom of the festoon just below the grapes and leaf is hanging what looks like a pear. The sugar bowl is 5-1/8 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter at the rim. The foot is 3-7/8 inches in diameter and shows honest wear. The glass is crystal clear flint. It does fluoresce yellow when black light is applied and it does have a low ring to it. There may be some bubbles and staw marks but there are no other chips, flakes or cracks. Shipping includes insurance. (LVRM1-3XX)
