Wonderful gift for the drama and English literature lover. Jug with portrait of Shakespeare and pictures of some of his great creations.
On the front is the Bard of Avon wearing an elaborate lace collar and posed in front of the church in Stratford where he is buried. The style imitates copperplate engraving.
On the back are some of his great characters: MacBeth, Shylock (Merchant of Venice), Katherine (Taming of the Shrew), Rosalind (As You Like It), Falstaff (Henry IV, Henry V, Merry Wives of Windsor)
Royal Doulton, England backstamp on bottom with registration number 549,784.
Measures 8 inches handle-to-lip, 4 1/2 inches wide, 6 inches tall
Very Good overall condition. No chips, cracks, dings or repairs. Well crazed and discolored from use, as seen in photos.
Circa 1911-1922. Pattern registered in 1911. Backstamp in use until 1922.
