Sweet painting on ivory of young girl that died in 1861 at the age of 13. She was the sister of Fanny Smyth and something else about Mrs. E Blount. Godfred Miller's name is penciled on the paper on the reverse and he was active in NY painting miniatures at this time.

The case is the original velvet case and ivory is fronted with glass and backed by paper. A beautiful piece by a noted itinerent artist and a young girl that died at the beginning of the civil war at 13.This may have been done in memoriam.

Measurements of case/painting is 2.25" x 1.75".
