Description: Welcome! We have for sale a little WWII trench art wood carving figure of a Japanese scholar in traditional clothing, carrying a burden on his back (could be firewood, or personal possessions) while reading from a book. It is marked on the bottom in black "Japan '45" with the name of the American serviceman "McClew" in red, plus another symbol in black. This little figure measures 4 1/4 inches high by 1 1/4 inches wide across the back and the wooden base measures 1 3/4 inches front to back. There are a couple of tiny nicks or lighter areas of wood along the edges, but overall this charming little figure is in good condition and a nice piece of WWII trench art. Buy it now!
