Description: This very interesting historical item came from the World War I period. It came to me from Germany but is most likely French taken to Germany as a trophey. It is a flower vase made of very large artillery shell. It is all covered with some sort of engraved decorations. The engravings were very light, not going deep into the metal, so it faded with time. But it is still quite readable. The inscription reads: "Souvenier de la Campagnie de 1914 -15-16-17". There is also a large cannon on the bottom, with all kinds of medallions, cartouches and swirls. Very interesting piece from historical times. Excellent condtion. It is quite large and heavy - 13.5" tall, 2.5 pounds.
