Description:
Found this old maple sugar mold in Pennsylvania back in the 70's, it was only the beginning of my quest for antiques that is still on some 35 years later. Now the time has come to start culling my collections down and I am offering it on goantiques. I love the crude way this is made from a block of wood, all lopsided, see all pics. The carving is of flowers and has a chipped carved ring around them. When I bought it the dealer that sold it to me told me she had stripped off old worn red paint and refinished it with an oil finish (I almost cried). I always loved old paint but that was not the fashion of the day at that time. Everybody was refinishing everything. She did a fine job for what she did and it is a mello pine looking finish now. The inside of the mold itself is 3" by 2 1/2" more oval than round. The block its carved in is very irregular, varies from 4" to a hair over 3 3/4". This mold looks great with your old stoneware, wooden bowls, etc. please inquire for shipping quote my zip to yours. Add $1.35 for insurance on the shipping if you want it. International buyers please inquire for shipping quote. Thank You for browsing Antique Haven, Michigan.
