We are pleased to offer this beautiful sterling silver green tinted smoky quartz ring.

This ring weighs approximately 5.3 grams, and features a emerald cut prong set green tinted smoky quartz stone according to our jeweler, which would make this stone prasiolite (See below), and that measures about 9.25mm by 18.0mm, and it is size 8 ¾, and the setting has an antique-like look to it because of the filigree pattern that will further intrigue and delight you.

This ring is hallmarked “925” indicating that it is made of sterling silver, the standard for beautiful silver jewelry (See below), “CNA” which we have tried to research before with no luck, and “Thailand” to indicate the country of its origin. We see some very pretty pieces coming out of Thailand these days. It is in excellent condition. What an impressive ring this is!

Nothing finishes your look as much as eye-catching and beautiful jewelry. While fashions in clothing change each season according to the whims of designers and clothing manufacturers and the fad du jour, beautiful jewelry is here to stay forever. That's why when you buy jewelry, you literally invest in your future and begin to create family heirlooms. And we certainly appreciate and thank you for taking the time to take a look at our site and our jewelry.

Smoky quartz
Smoky quartz is a popular variety of quartz. It has an unusual color for a gemstone and is easily recognized and is well known by the general public. Only a few other brown or black minerals are ever cut for gemstones such as black diamond, smoky topaz, the very rare black beryl or brown corundum. Smoky quartz is also popular as an ornamental stone and is carved into spheres, pyramids, obilisks, eggs, figurines and ornate statues.

Smoky quartz, a variety itself of quartz, has a few varieties of its own.

• Cairngorm is a variety that comes from the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland.
• Morion is a very dark black opaque variety of smoky quartz.
• Coon tail quartz is a smoky quartz with an alternating black and gray banding.
• A Gwindel is a smoky quartz cluster of nearly parallel crystals, each rotated slightly relative to the one beside it.
The color of smoky quartz is variable from brown to black and sometimes smoky gray colored specimens are included as smoky quartz. The cause of the color of smoky quartz is in question but it is almost certainly related to the amount of exposure to radiation that the stone has undergone. Natural smoky quartz often occurs in granitic rocks which have a small but persistent amount of radioactivity. Most smoky quartz that makes its way to rock shops and to some gem cutters has been artificially irradiated to produce a dark black color.

Natural smoky quartz comes from many sources around the world. A few of the more noteworthy locations include Brazil, the world's largest supplier; Pikes Peak area of Colorado, USA, where it is associated with green amazonite; and the Swiss Alps, which has produced many tons of fine specimens.

Smoky Quartz is only one of several quartz varieties. Other varieties that form macroscopic (large enough to see) crystals are as follows:

• Amethyst is the purple gemstone variety.
• Citrine is a yellow to orange gemstone variety that is rare in nature but is often created by heating Amethyst.
• Milky Quartz is the cloudy white variety.
• Prasiolite is the leek-green variety.
• Rock Crystal is the clear, colorless variety.
• Rose quartz is a pink to reddish pink variety.

Sterling silver
Pure Silver has a brilliant white metallic luster. It is very ductile and malleable below gold and palladium (one of the platinum metals). Sterling silver is the standard for beautiful, high quality silver jewelry being over 90% pure silver mixed with alloys to add strength and durability. The metal will not wear down.

Sterling silver is 92.5% (925 parts) pure silver and 7.5% (75 parts) alloy metal. Marks used, engraved onto either the back side or the inside of each piece of jewelry include “Sterling“, “Ster.”, 925, or .925 and 92.5. Sterling Silver has the most ideal percentage of metal for having durability and natural bright sheen and the patina adheres to polish bringing the beautiful jewelry piece back to its original appearance when new.
