Excellent condition

We are pleased to offer this dramatic sterling silver oval abalone shell pendant with silver sculpted into a flower, vines and leaves.

This pendant weighs approximately 50.01 grams, and the pendant is an oval cut abalone shell (See below) tinted with iridescent greens, blues, pinks and ecru in a fabulous diagonal pattern running from the top left to the bottom right. There are spectacular large sterling silver leaves that seem to embrace the flower lovingly as they hold the abalone in its place. The ornate flower, vines and leaves cascade down over the top and sides of the shell, a festoon, holding these exotic electric colors from overflowing, as they do appear to be in the state of flowing.

Dramatic and boldly exciting define this piece. The bail is large enough to take a strip of denim and string it through to tie around your neck before going out for a picnic or to the beach for the day. With a summer neckline, this pendant will draw attention to your face, beyond a doubt. It has no hallmarks, but our jeweler tells us that this piece is sterling silver (See below). If you love bold, we certainly have it for you with this outstanding piece.

This wonderful, bold jewelry is all the rage in fashions this year. We see huge, colorful and playful necklaces on runway models, on TV, and in the soap operas more and more as this season progresses, and when it starts being seen on the soaps and in TV programs, you know it’s “in”.

Nothing finishes your look as much as bold and eye-catching jewelry. While fashions in clothing change each season according to the whims of designers and clothing manufacturers and the fad du jour, jewelry is here to stay forever. That's why when you buy jewelry, you literally invest in your future and begin to create family heirlooms. And we certainly appreciate and thank you for taking the time to take a look at our site and our jewelry.

Abalone
Abalone are medium-sized to very large edible sea snails. The shells of abalones have a low and open spiral structure, and are characterized by several respiratory holes in a row near the shell's outer edge. The thick inner layer of the shell is composed of nacre or mother-of-pearl, which in many species is highly iridescent, giving rise to a range of strong and changeable colors, which make the shells attractive to humans as decorative objects, and as a source of colorful mother-of-pearl.

The shell of abalones has a convex, rounded to oval shape, and the shell may be highly arched or very flattened. The shell is slightly spiral, with two to three whorls. The color of the shell is variable from species to species. The iridescent nacre that lines the inside of the shell varies in color from silvery white, to pink, red and green-red, through to predominantly deep blues, greens and purples.

The highly iridescent inner nacre layer of the shell of abalone has traditionally been used as a decorative item in jewelry, buttons, and as inlay in furniture and in musical instruments such as guitars, etc.

Sterling silver
Sterling silver is a white and highly reflective precious metal. Sterling refers to silver that is 92.5 percent pure, which should be stamped on the metal as Sterling, 925, or .925, sometimes accompanied by the initials of the designer or country of origin as a hallmark.
