Description:
This is a plate removed from a 19th century woman's magazine, perhaps Gody's or Peterson's. One side shows a woman in a summer (!) walking dress with a small camera on a tripod. It is unusual for several reasons. At this date, which appears to be c. 1870s from the style of the dress, most cameras were large and cumbersome. Also, although not unknown, it was not common to see a woman pictured as a photographer. The page includes the design for two hats and the reverse shows two hats and another dress. The 6 X 9 inch print is in very good condition with some chips where it was removed from the magazine binding and some unevenness at the bottom left corner. This would be a delightful image to frame for a woman photographer. This item will be shipped from Maryland. It can be combined with other items shipped from Maryland to save on postage. Beverly will be your contact for this item. International buyers please email to learn about payment and shipping options.
