Description: Offering this nice vintage valve seat grinder set in the original wooded box/case. It comes with lots of extras, rarely found together are a set, and instructions also. The white paper inside the top lid of the box reads "JOSEPH WEIDENHOFF, INC. ALGONA, IOWA LO-KOST VALVE SEAT GRINDER" and continues on with the general operating instructions, and also has a nice diagram of the assembly to the right of the instructions. As you can see the set is a little different than other valve grinders. This one is designed to be used with a electric or air hand drill, so there is two adapters to fit into the supplied grinder head to the drill chuck. One adapter is a flex shaft type adapter. The other three steel round parts are precision pilots that fit into the grinder main head to keep the head on center. The pilots are adjustable to some extent, (a set set in each to spread the end open for a slightly larger size pilot diameter. The other end fits snug into the mail grinder head. There is a total of 8 square cardboard boxes included that fit into the wooden case. Each of these boxes have a metal disk with a precision fit tapered inside diameter to not only fit the grinder head perfectly, but the angle on each size is designed to hold the grinding paper at the correct value seat angle, as shown in the picture. The box calls the metal part to hold the grinding paper a CONE piece. These are all precision parts, all in very good shape, no rust or damage noted. Each box also has lots of grinding papers in it! They seem to been in really good shape also, useable as far as I can tell. The little bent rod tool is supposed to be a Allen key I think, it will adjust the set screw in 2 of the 3 pilots, the other I have to use a new T-handle Allen wrench to adjust the set screw. Also include is a wooden handle tool with a rubber suction cup at the end, it is in good shape, I don't know if it came with the set originally, but it was with the set when I bought it, so it stays with it. The wooden box is made of good quality vintage plywood and is in good shape, a few small chipped edges, otherwise looks great. Good hardware, front latch, and double hinges. The box measures 4 x 6.75 x 11.5". A very rare set of grinding tools!
