WHITHAM (Stamford,Vermont) HAND THROWN Art Pottery BOWL Album Album Album Album Exquisite WHITHAM (Stamford, Vermont) HAND THROWN Art Pottery BOWL ITEM DESCRIPTION This is a brilliant hand thrown pottery bowl that was made c1960s in Stamford Vermont by Whitham Pottery. It has a beautiful mottled green glaze on the exterior and a soft off-white on the interior. This is a tall, high sided bowl (dimensions below) would make a lovely display item but it could also be quite useful, holding candy, fruit or just about anything. Age (ca.) c1960-1970s Dimensions It measures 7-1/2" in diameter X 4-1/2" High - this is quite tall for a bowl . Condition Good condition. No chips, no cracks. T is an miniscule (barely a dot) spot of missing glaze on the rim that you'll have to look hard to find. This may be an original firing flaw. Provenance This item is from a lovely old sprawling Victorian home on Long Island's north shore. The owners are retiring and moving south and giving up some of the treasures that have been in their family for multiple generations. Apparently, at one time this was an extremely wealthy family ... they had multiple sets of china, an enormous amount of quality silver and other decorative accessories that spoke of 'old money'. The pieces from this estate are "fresh" to the market, having just come from the home of the family that have owned their pieces for generations. Please scroll down for more photos and any of them.
