Description: Whale Oil Trunnion Lamp This rare solid brass, capped single wick whale oil trunnion lamp has been well used through out it's lifetime. It has some condition issues. First the pivots on each side have been repaired by soldering and are not so pleasing to the eye. It also has a lot of scratches and dings. The drip plate has a slight bend to it and doesn't sit evenly. The hinge for the cap has also been replaced with a brass wire. Now that all that has been stated, everything said is restorable with a qualified metal smith. Everything can be brought back to originality and fixed. It is very rare and worth fixing up. This trunnion lamp, in its standing position, measures about 6 1/2" tall. It is approximately 5 5/8" wide including its elaborately sculptured carrying handle. Its stepped and dished drip pan is 4" in diameter. A wonderful item of history. Something that with a little TLC will accent any antique styled room. Perfect for all you collectors!
