H. G. Wells-"The Outline Of History-Being A Plain History Of Life And Mankind"-1921-MacMillan-5 1/2" X 8 1/2"-1170 pages-hardcover book-with liiustrations-Signed By Author.Herbert George Wells (September 21, 1866 - August 13, 1946)[1], better known as H. G. Wells, was an English writer best known for such science fiction novels as The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The First Men in the Moon and The Island of Doctor Moreau. He was a prolific writer of both fiction and non-fiction, and produced works in many different genres, including contemporary novels, history, and social commentary. He was also an outspoken socialist. His later works become increasingly political and didactic, and only his early science fiction novels are widely read today. Wells and Jules Verne are each sometimes referred to as "The Father of Science Fiction"....The goal of H. G. Wells in The Outline of History was stated in the subtitle: "Being a Plain History of Life and Mankind", as well as its other subtitle, The Whole Story of Man. Wells was very dissatisfied with the quality of history textbooks at the end of World War I, and so, between 1918 and 1919, produced a 1,324-page work which was published in serial softcover form in 1919, with the first hardcover edition appearing in 1920. The book met with popular acclaim and massive sales. Nevertheless, its popularity and literary achievements were overshadowed by Wells' works of science fiction, such as The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and his most popular work, The War of the Worlds. Because of this, Wells is now known not as a non-fiction writer or a historian, but as a fiction author. The book has been autographed on the title page by H.G.Wells with a fountain pen in brown..............CONDITION OF BOOK AND AUTOGRAPH IS USED..............
