Description: For Sale I have a Great Piece of Art Pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. I have a Large Frog Figurine done in the highly Collected Coppertone Glaze.

The Frog displays a wonderful a great Glaze that Consists of a Matte Forest Green with Outstanding Copper Mottling. The Belly of the Frog has a very natural raw leather glaze color. The Detail in the eyes and mouth is just wonderful. One of the Frogs eyes appears to be cloudy and the other is clearer. Just like in nature if you ever watch a Frog in real life their eyes would appear to do the same. One Eye would get a Film or sometimes even both would at the same time. This must have been their way of Blinking.

This Coppertone Frog is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. I was told when I bought this that there was restoration done to one of the feet. I can honestly say that I cannot tell which foot it was. The Frog is signed on the bottom with the Weller Pottery Half Kiln Ink Stamp Mark. There is also the finishers number "12" hand written in green glaze. I have owned so many Coppertone pieces in my life and I would have to say that 95% of all of them had the number 12 hand written on the bottom. This leads me to believe that this finisher stayed with Weller for at least 15 years or more.

This is one of the Larger of the Coppertone Frogs that Weller made. The Frog appears to be sitting and just waiting for that Fly to come buzzing by. Hopefully I can get one of you Frog Collectors to Buzz on by and purchase this wonderful piece of Art Pottery. This piece of Coppertone was made during Weller's Middle Period Circa 1918-1935.
