Description:
Rare find! Weller Malvern console bowl with flower frog insert.
In All About Weller Ann Gilbert McDonald writes, Combining the naturalistic with the grotesque, Malvern had high relief red flower buds and green leaves on a textured, multi-colored background. The factory offered baskets, vases in shades of green, magenta, yellow, and brown. The long stemmed flowers wound around the vases and bowls in a serpentine fashion.
These pieces are magenta and green. The bowl has the stem and red flower both growing from a green base around the bottom.
Circa 1920s
Made in Zanesville, Ohio
These pieces are both UNMARKED.
MEASURES:
Bowl 9 x 4 inches.
Frog about 5 x 2 inches.
Both pieces in Very Good to excellent overall condition. There is a manufacturers flaw on the base of the bowl. It is most visible from the bottom and you can see it in the last photo between 5 and 6 o'clock. No other chips, cracks or other damage seen.
