BOMMY KNOCKERS are ancient weapons ...some are mounted on staff's or poles, some on ropes or leather grips like this one....others have nasty protrusions like nails or similar to inflict maximum dammage. This one is simple but deadly, being a heavy polished egg shaped piece of quartz or marble rock with 2 holes drilled at the narrow end to take the leather strap. A deadly weapon easily concealed in the palm of the hand or a pocket...possibly an early New Zealand Colonial weapon from the days of the Gold Fields or the Whalers / sailors back in the mid -late 1800's.
