Description: This is a very rare find--a late Victorian water hose reel. It is made of hardwood. The grain appears to be hickory, but the old red paint maks it difficult to tell. The wheels are cast iron and have a beautiful design for such a functional piece. The reels turn and the cross boards are doweled into the arms. This reel was used either for a garden hose or a water hose used by a rural fire station. Great piece of Americana.
