Description: Exquisite Art Deco Glass mermaid candlestick made by the reknowned German glassmakers August Walther & Sohne in a pattern known as 'Nymphen'. The detail on this ice blue figurine is intricate with both hands poised above the head, holding the candleholder as though it were an urn. The detailed features of the face of the mermaid are clearly visible, as are the delicate strands of hair, which fall gently down the back, even each finger is clearly defined. This is the split tail or double fin style of mermaids, which is typical of the more classical designs from that era. It measures 8 3/4"tall x 4" across the base. This gorgrous ice blue 'Nymphen' candlestick is in excellent condition with no damage or flaws, which is a remarkable find for these rare treasures from the 1920s-30s.
