Description:
Back in the day Waltham was the second largest manufacturer of
watches in the world after Elgin. Once all the watch companies
made the transition from pocket watches to wrist watches some
companies made the transition smoothly and some fell by the
wayside. The Waltham Company of Massachusetts was a prolific
pocket watch producer and the company made the grade in
wristwatches but did not produce in large quantities for very
long. The production ended in 1957. The watches they made
were well engineered and are very sought after today but good
examples are getting scarce.
This particular Waltham is a fine example and is in great
condition. It is a manual wind "cushion" shaped case that looks
great on the wrist. The yellow gold filled case measures 27mm
side to side (not including the crown) by 38mm lug to lug. The
dial is a creamy silver that contrasts the yellow gold hands and
Arabic numerals. There is a neat perfectly round "seconds bit" in
the 6 o'clock position that makes the circuit once a minute.
The 17 jewel movement has been lovingly restored by one of
our master watchmakers so that it winds, sets, and keeps time
like the day it was made. We have fitted a nice lizard grain band
to the watch that really suits it! We have priced this Waltham so
that you can own a great timepiece without breaking the bank.
Remember all our watches come with our famous one year
warranty for parts and labor so that you may buy with
confidence.
