Description: Sweet Victorian Walnut Unusually Narrow Slant Lid Desk with exceptionally carved four drawer base. The top section has well done deep carvings and raised burl panels. The slant lid reveals the original interior with two small drawers with birdseye maple fronts. The material on the writing surface appears to be the original. The base is great! The desk also features some of the best carved pulls we have seen and vibrant raised shaped burl panels, all in a petite narrow size. This desk was a present about a century ago with an old label on the interior that reads: "Presented to Margurite S. Bailey on her eleventh birthday by Grandma Bailey Nov. 19, 1903." We find authentic notes like these to be as wonderful to find as cabinetmaker's signatures. Circa: 1870 Dimensions: 65" H x 24 1/2" W x 17" D Finish: Good original Price: $3995.00
