Description:
A good clean First British Edition of "In The Wake of the Sea Serpents", by Bernard Heuvelmans, originally published in two volumes, "Dans la Sillage des Monstres marins : Le Kraken et le Poulpe colossal"{1958} and "Le Grand Serpent-de- Mer" {1965}, by Librarie Plon of Paris; here translated from the French by Richard Garnett and published by Rupert Hart-Davis of London in 1968. A serious study of a subject often viewed with scorn by academics. Yet there are over 550 reports of animals thought to be sea-serpents, only about a tenth of which can be dismissed as deliberate hoaxes. The great majority of the remainder can only reasonably be explained by the existence of one or more large unknown sea animals. Fascinating text plus 32 pages of black and white photographs, 133 drawings by the author's wife, Alika Watteau, plus two maps as well as chronological tables of sightings, strandings and captures. Hard covers, 645 pages, original dust jacket. Ref. ITWOTSSBH/E2. FREE DELIVERY WITHIN MAINLAND UK : FULLY INSURED WORLDWIDE SHIPPING VIA ROYAL MAIL AIR FREIGHT.
