Description: Beautifully engraved certificate from the Wagner Palace Car Company Check issued in 1898. This item is hand signed by the Company’s President (W. Seward Webb ) and is over 103 years old. This company was controlled by the New York Central RR and in competition with the Pullman Co. for sleeping car patrons. W. S. Webb, was the son-in-law of William H. Vanderbilt. There are a number of small cancellation stamps in body of certificate which is typical of most of the Wagner Palace Co, certificates. Wagner became a part of Pullman Company on Jan 1,1900. They operated just like companies operate in 1990s, if you cant beat them, you buy them.
