Description: This is a beautiful, deep relief wall plaque of a tender Mother Mary holding Her baby Jesus in the style of Renaissance art. Notice in the photo how her lovely hand holds His little foot, and how serene and pleased her face is. I am not sure what it is made of. It feels like sandstone and has shimmery particles, but on the back it appears to have been poured. I will call it plaster, though it is more luminous than any plaster I have seen. There is a brass ring affixed to the back for hanging. Measures about 5.25 by 7.5 inches, and it comes in the original Wieboldt's Department store box, with the tissue. The are no chips or cracks, but the plaque needs a little gentle cleaning. I believe it is circa 1950s.
