Description:
This is a super vintage English art deco ceramic teapot that bears the registry date for 1937. It is a figural teapot in the shape of a lady in a crinoline and bears the under glaze inscribed name Ye Daintee Ladyee. The lady is like a half doll with hand painted accents and the teapot is an all over peach color. There is no maker's name but is usually attributed to early Sadler. An identical one in green is in the Twinings Teapot Museum and Norfolk Decorative Art Museum, both in England. Newer copies have no faces and are more crudely made and marked differently. The teapot is in excellent condition with the only flaws being a couple of pinpricks done in manufacture, and a slight paling of the peach under the glaze at the front of the skirt. It has a wonderful locking design to secure the teapot lid that is different from any I've seen. Very collectible as well as a great tea table accent.
