FABULOUS TURQUOISE BLUE CRACKLE FINISH BALUSTER STYLE VASE BY W.B.STEPHEN OF THE PISGAH POTTERY COMPANY OF NORTH CAROLINA. IT IS 9" TALL AND HAS THE STEPHENS TRADEMARK PINK GLAZED INTERIOR. THIS PIECE IS FULLY MARKED AND DATED FOR "1946". IT HAS GRADIENTS OF TURQUOISE FROM LIGHT AT THE TOP TO A DARKER SHADE NEAR THE BOTTOM. IT HAS NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR POPS ON THE CLASSIC ORIENTAL FORM. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. The Pisgah Forest Pottery was owned and operated by W.B. Stephen from 1926 to 1961. Mr. Stephen was known primarily for his turquoise glaze, crystalline glazes. In 1940, the pottery was renamed Stephen's Pottery, but W.B. returned to using the Pisgah Forest Pottery name in 1941. A number of museums such as the Smithsonian, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the Mint Museum in Charlotte own examples of Pisgah Forest Pottery.
