Description:
Vintage oak tool box. A great manly gift! Good looking, solid oak tool box. Handmade; c:late 19th, early 20thC. It is 22 inches long x 10 deep x 10 tall. The interior corners are called either tongue and groove or mortice & tenant, but can't recall the specific name for it, (see pic. 3). Good display condition; some aging flaws: has one tight, long split in backside panel, and is missing the top part of the metal latch on the right side latch. It has a thick leather strap handle. Cool primitive, country item. You can use this for other things besides tools too; and it makes a nice accessory furniture piece, as well as storage case for kitchen collectibles, tools, etc. Put a big red bow on it, stuff it with antique tools, and make your man one happy camper! I saw an almost identical one with the leather strap handle, but much smaller, with a $695 price tag on it at the Bloomfield Hill Antiques Show recently!
