Pr: Vintage Native American Beaded Leather Dolls C.1930
Description: Pair: Vintage Native American Beaded Leather & Fabric Indian Chief & Squaw Dolls, C.1930s. The dolls feature painted leather faces with beaded leather headbands and shoes. The dolls are dressed in fabric garments with beaded details. Both dolls wear beaded necklaces and the man is wearing a feathered headdress with waxed paper backing. The dolls are not signed or marked. The dolls are supported by white metal stands. Price Comparison: $500-700 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: Chief: 11-1/4" High, 3-1/2" Wide, 3" Deep. Squaw: 10" High, 3-1/2" Wide, 3" Deep. Total Weight: 0.7lbs. (11oz.) Condition: There are a number of losses/breaks to dyed feathers on the man's headdress (the paper support is wrinkled/brittle). The woman's necklace is broken (a few beads appear to be missing). There is some dirt/dust to the surface of each piece. Otherwise, the dolls are in good condition.
