Vintage Modern Abstract Bronze Figure Mat Strumor 1950s
Description: Vintage Modern Abstract Bronze Figure Signed Mat Strumor, 1950s. The sculpture is modeled in the form of a standing figure with staffs. The surface of the bronze features a verdigris patina. The bronze is mounted on a black painted wood stand/base. The side of the wood stand is signed/incised: "MAT STRUMOR 1959". The artist is not listed in any of the major art reference books. Price Comparison: $1500-2000 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: Sculpture (including base): 26-1/8" High, 8" Wide, 5-1/2" Deep. Bronze (alone): 23" High, 7-1/2" Wide, 5-1/2" Deep. Total Weight: 6lbs. Condition: The shaped elements attached to the four posts appear to be bent out of place (can be bent back). There is a break to the bronze where the pointed tip of the front leg meets the oval shaped base/stand (not very serious). There are a few small scratches to the surface and edges of the bronze. There is some chipping/wear to the paint along the surface and edges of the wood base (with some dirt/dust to the surface). Otherwise, the sculpture is in good condition.
