Description:
For sale is a vintage majolica style fish wallpocket. Absolutely fabulous, and very heavy OLD piece; pottery or might be considered majolica. It features 3 fish surrounded by seaweed and shells. It has a dry white clay back; and is far too heavy and detailed to be anything from Japan. Likely American or European majolica dating from the late 19th, early 20th C., but have to admit I am more of an expert in vintage American Pottery than majolica, so I will let you decide. There appears to be a stamp mark on the backside, but I cannot make it out, it is very worn. This is an old item, it has a lot of crazing on the interior and on the exterior which is not too visible because of the all gorgeous coloring on this item. It has one fleaspeck on one of the fish scale rims, but the minor flaw is not really visible unless searching it over carefully. This is a very unique piece.
