Description:
This vintage large envelope style handbag is made of cream colored patent leather by Walborg. The back of this purse has two very light marks, and I believe these could easily be removed. There is a 45" matching shoulder strap which can detach. The inside of the purse is lined with black acetate and is very clean. It has two sections. The back section has a large open pocket with the Walborg tag sewn on the right side. The front section also has a large open pocket. The top of the purse has a handle which can also lay flat when using the shoulder strap. This purse is in great condition.
Hilde Walborg Weinborg founded her company in the late 1940's in New York City. She designed all of her bags herself, only using the finest materials and manufacturing processes available at the time. By the 1950's she had made quite a name for herself, and she was the hot designer of the day attending many famous social events. In January 1954, she celebrated the opening of her new showroom on 149 Madison Avenue in New York City. In the 1960's the Walborg Corporation had many special bead and other designs manufactured overseas such as Hong Kong or China.
