Description:
This vintage wingless Kewpie could not have been
approved by Rose O'Neil! The 2 3/4 inch ceramic figure
holds a 2 1/4 twin lens reflex camera in his left hand
and holds up his
right hand to call the attention of his setter. The base is
stamped "Japan". The little camera does not have any
detail except for the the two round spots on the
rectangular box he holds. I have seen larger Kewpie
figures in the same pose holding more detailed TLR
cameras that lead me to believe it is based on an
existing figure from the period. He has no chips, cracks,
or crazing but the attention to detail in the paint is
casual to say the least. You will notice the eyes do
not match and the paint on the camera and trunks does
not exactly follow the shapes. I have seen several
examples of this little guy and the paint has been
different on all of them.
This would be a great gift for a photographer, camera or
photographica collector. Check my listings for other
photographica.
