Fine vintage GORHAM Silver plated covered vegetable Serving dish ITEM DESCRIPTION This is a fine quality Gorham covered serving dish, done in high quality silver plate. It has a square shape with gadrooned edging. The handle on the cover is the type that, when twisted, can be removed and used in any number of other covered dishes (it’s common to see these butterfly handles clasps on silverplate of this vintage – you can mix and match the handles on other pieces). The handle is very decorative with an elegantly simple look. It is marked on the bottom (see photo). This would make an elegant addition to your dining and your entertaining. Age (ca.) c1950 Dimensions It measures 10” X 7-1/2” X 5” high to the top of the handle (the bowl itself is 2” deep) Condition Good estate condition. No plate wear. No significant dings or dents just some minor signs of age and use that verify vintage but nothing that would interfere from its immediate use - e.g., a few minor scratches, etc. Has a monogram (as pictured). The silver has a beautiful patina. Provenance This item comes from a prestigious estate auction in Long Island’s Hamptons .
