Description: Delightful Paper Mache Easter Baby Chick Candy Container. The chicks body is shaped like an egg. The chick is wearing a felt red hat and tie around his neck. The chick has a pipe cleaner tail. The bottom of the chick's feet is stamped in blue ink several words, but the only one I can make out is Germany. The inside of the candy container is decorated with cream and blue floral paper. The eyes are black beads, which I believe are made of glass. Fabulous yellow, blue and red orange colors! The chick has a bumpy texture! The neck is a metal spring. He measures approximately 5" tall, 5" long & 2 1/2" wide. The container is in very good condition for its age. There is a small dent and tiny tear on the inside lip of the container (please see pictures & two tiny spots of color loss on the back of the chick's body. According to the shape of the container & fitting the top to bottom it appears that the chick's feet are backwards. I am not sure if this is a factory error or if at one time there were two containers and the top and bottom were somehow switched. Fairly good fit on the top and bottom but there is some gap on the tail end of the chick. No matter how you choose to display this little chick he is a great asset to you vintage Easter collection!
