French Health Poster from 1938 published by the Ministere de la Sante Publique (The Minister of Public Health) - Nous Pouvons Suprimer la Tuberculose (We can keep Tuberculosis under control), Achetez le nouveau Timbre Antituberculeux (Buy the new anti-TB stamp) - 1938. Internet research indicates that in the 1920s and 30's ephemera such as booklets, bookmarks, advertisements and brochures stressing the importance of fresh air, sunshine, adequate nourishment and sufficient rest were issued by governments across Europe, but most particularly by the French (who always seem by be particularly concerned with germs). Annual Christmas seal campaigns in North America and Europe were regularly responsible for newly-minted posters and seals; they continue today. This is a wonderful poster -unlike some of the other health posters issued by the same Ministry (notably for syphilis) which were frightening in the extreme - it is spritely and happy and makes one think healthy thoughts. Poster is in excellent condition, was recently professionally lined on linen, and shows absolutely no signs of aging. It measures 47.5 x 31.5 inches. It will be shipped rolled in a poster tube.
