Description:
I bought this item a number of years ago for a dear friend of mine who owned a beach house. She recently sold the house and gave it back to me to sell. I bought this lure at Brimfield, which is a huge antique market in MA. I am trying to remember what the man told me about it, so the following is to the best of my recollection. This is a 2 hook trolling fishing lure. It was used in – I believe – New Zealand waters (I think in the salt water ocean, but I don't remember). The item has since been outlawed in the area, as it was too effective. I bought this as a house-warming gift, as I thought it was a wonderful piece of hand made Folk Art. It is really great looking and unique, especially when hung against a solid color wall. Fish are hand painted, cutout tin, knotted on rope. Body is some kind of metal. There are lead pieces on each dragging rope to give the lures weight. From the top of the loop to the bottom of the hanging fish, it measures approx. 34” l. Width is approx. 15 ¼”.
