Item Description:
This is a beautiful vintage English yew corner curio cabinet display. It has a traditional beveled cornice with attractive dental molding and it features a cabinet that has 3 shelves, 2 of glass that are removable, and it has a beautiful *astragal wood glazed glass door with a lovely design. One of the glass shelves is chipped but it is not distracting at all since it is in its corner. In addition it has a convenient cabinet on the bottom that offers 2 shelves, 1 removable, and it has a beautiful crossbanded door with a very attractive design. Both cabinet doors have lock mechanisms with 1 key present. This piece may have minor age appropriate wear and imperfections but as shown it is overall in
very good cosmetic and structural condition and it is strong and sturdy. This beautiful furniture will be welcome in any room you choose to use it in since it blends in well with many decors.
What is astragal (wood or lead) glazing? As it pertains to later period furniture, it is a method of securing glass to the straight, semi-circular, or shaped moldings found on glass doors and windows of furniture. On newer reproduction furniture, the astragal molding may set atop the glass to give the appearance of glazing where on older English furniture, it is not uncommon for each piece of glass to be cut to shape and glazed into the molding.
