Description:
For the men who are shopping FineLine Antiques. We do have some items for you!
Here is a very nice vintage Decatur Industries Wooden Cigar Humidor.
Decatur Industries is the largest humidor manufacturer in the world and is known for quality. A very respected humidor manufacturer, it was acquired by Oakbrook Tobacco in the late 1980's. Apparently one of Decatur Industries' accomplishments was winning a competition (which included over 200 humidor manufacturers) to manufacturer the Frank Sinatra humidor when Frank Sinatra was alive.
This humidor is likely made of Walnut as this was a popular wood for humidors during the 1950's/1960's. Although Mahogany was also used, I think this is Walnut.
The Humidor is lined with white porcelain or plastic interior lining, has brass hardware, including a removable brass humidification unit/screen. The brass plate in top of the box never been engraved. There is a felt bottom and a gold & brown round trade mark sticker that reads:
"DECATUR INDUSTRIES INC. DECO Decatur, Indiana"
Probably holds about 30 cigars.
Dimensions: 10.75" x 7.25" x 4" tall.
Condition: Very Good vintage. A few minor surface scratches, but I would call them more patina than damage. They give the piece authenticity and character, please see photos. Hinges work smoothly.
Old humidors in good condition are hard to find.
Please see photos.
