Description:
Vintage Crescent Toys Diecast Model Queen Elizabeth Coronation Coach with Horses and Riders from 1953. This wonderful coach miniature of Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Coach is complete with Horses and Riders. The real life coach was built on orders of King George III in 1762 and is the most elaborate and expensive coach ever built in England. It weighs a whopping four tons and because of the weight requires eight horses with four riders to pull it at a walking pace. It has been used for every coronation since King George IV and can be seen in the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace when viewing is open to the public. This model of the Coronation Coach and Riders was made by Crescent Toys of England in 1953. It is extremely detailed, the front of the coach has two cherubs and the back also has two cherubs, each cherub is holding an ornate staff. These cherubs are unique, their faces look like a man's face with a beard, the chests are muscular, rest of the body looks like a cherub, complete with wings. The carriage is also very detailed just like the real life one, Queen Elizabeth is seated inside the carriage, dressed in her Coronation gown and crown, detailed as if real life, you can see her face and the tiny details on her gown. There are eight horses with four riders, each horse wears a red blanket with a gold/gray saddle and black eye blinders. The four riders are dressed in traditional riding garb, each has a black hat with red coat, white pants and black riding boots. The horses attach to the carriage via a hook at the back section that holds the horses together. This set is complete with no missing pieces, there are some tiny spots of paint loss on the horses but there are NO breaks and no repairs. The horses are held together by a long rod like piece down the center, this piece was apparently never painted and both this rod and the hook part have age related discoloration. When displayed you don't see this piece but am mentioning this for accuracy's sake. The carriage is in excellent condition, there is some tiny spots of slight discoloration on the bottom of the carriage front behind the cherubs, again this is not visible and only noted for accuracy's sake, also tiny speck of paint loss on the tip of the top of the roof. The carriages is 4" tall and 5 1/4" long, it is marked with Made in England, this whole set is made of die cast metal. The horse section is 2 1/4" tall and about 11" long so the total length when hooked on to the carriage is about 16" long. This is a very hard to find set in this type of condition, very interesting piece. It would be a wonderful addition to your collection, would be beautiful displayed in a cabinet or glass covered display case. If you would like additional pictures or would like a picture of a specific angle just let me know and I will email it to you!
