Description: An unusual hexagonal lidded pot, ginger jar style - maybe a tea caddy - fashioned in a very Indian pattern with applied scrollwork, and stylized elephant heads around the neck. Made in pale chocolate-coloured jasperware, with applied pattern in a paler shade of coffee. Maker’s mark is for Villeroy & Boch, an impressed mark, (much like the mark Wedgwood uses). It has the letter “L” also impressed. This a very beautiful item, about 18.5cm high and 10.5cm wide at its widest point (7.1/4 inches and 4.1/4 inches). It has a shallow chip along one corner underneath (since the material is the same colour right through, this doesn’t show). Otherwise excellent condition. Heavy, so postage to the USA could be in the region of US$50.00.
