Description:
Wonderful Victorian wicker photographers chair made by Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company. It is shown on page 57 in the reprint of their 1898 catalog "Classic Wicker Furniture" with introduction by Richard Saunders and referred to as "Fancy Reception Chair." It is also shown on page 146 of "Official 1984 Price Guide to Wicker" by Richard Saunders. If you look at your old pre 1900 photographs of your great grandparents and uncles you will find many of them were taken using this chair as a prop. Two such photos, taken from "Collector's Guide to American Wicker Furniture" by Richard Saunders, are shown here. The chair features spider web caning, curly cues, bird cages, stick and ball, and machine caned seat. The seat and web caning have been redone at some point. The back is a bit loose and would not tolerate heavy use. This chair is meant to be exhibited like a work of art and decoration. A classic example of Victorian wicker! Circa: 1890 Dimensions: 44"H x 31"W x 19"D Finish: Good refurbished original finish. Some of the wrappings have been replaced. Price: $2150.00
